Mystery Component

Post by Lutherrp »

Guys I need help. I am working on a Grunow model 596 AM radio cira 1939. It has a transformer so it is pre AA5.
Anyway, it has a component in it that I don't know (for sure) what it is. See below...

I found a schematic for Grunow 585 that has a component that looks like it could be what I have. I think it's a voltage cell (of some sort) but that is a guess.

If it is a cell, is it needed? Is there a replacement solution?

I finally found out what it is. It is called a "Mallory Bias Cell".
Once you know what to call it, you can find all sorts of information about it!
