Local Tech for the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill Area?

Post by JMiP »

Are there any techs in North Carolina? I live in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill part of the state, but I'm not afraid to travel about two hours for someone good that won't require a second mortgage on my house.

Solid state. I'm looking to get the recently purchased Harman Kardon A402 restored. It's not in terrible condition, really, but needs work done.

I have a friend there who is in the middle of moving but once he has completed that, he plans to open up shop. Let me point him to this thread.

I would appreciate that.

I would work on it myself, but as I don't have enough experience doing this type of work and I want this to be my forever amp, I want it done right. I have other amps that I can practice on and if I screw something up really badly, oh well, they didn't cost me much anyway.

If you need vintage top-shelf equipment repaired/restored, I can recommend Carmine Cupani, Chief Technical Officer of CT Electronics in Kernersville, NC; that's about an hour and 30 minute drive west from me in Chapel Hill. He's a no-nonsense electrical engineer with many decades of hands-on experience fixing the top shelf and esoteric stuff (including solid state). He's done great work on my Marantz and McIntosh tube gear. Only don't expect a quick turnaround or bargain rates; if you can afford him and his rates, he's one of best around IMO. Contact him at: sales@cteche.com (301) 351-3781.

Good luck and happy listening!
