Just joined yesterday.
My name is Jon and I live just North of Charlotte NC.
I am presently working on a Laney GC30V tube amp, and 2 SS amps a Kustom bass amp and a Fender ultimate chorus .
These are my first amp repair projects other than just swapping out input jacks and tubes.
I was Military trained in electronics and am a CNC field tech by trade.
Looking forward to learning from you all and possibly helping out with what little knowledge I may have.

Hello,

My name is Mike and I live in Memphis, TN. I discovered the wonderful hobby of restoring vintage audio equipment just over a year ago, with the extra time on my hands because of the pandemic. I don't have an electronics background, but thanks to the incredible resources out there (including videos from Mark @ Blueglow), I have learned a great deal. I have built up a functional bench and have successfully brought about ten late 70's / early 80's receivers/amps back from the dead and recapped/cleaned/restored another ten already-working ones. All solid-state so far... maybe I'll tackle tubes at some point.

My latest rabbit-trail is exploring the Digilent Analog Discovery 2 and seeing if/how it can help expand my ability to test my gear. Happy to compare notes with anyone who is interested in this device.

Cheers, all!
-Mike

Hi,

My name is Eric and I am an aspirining hifi tube amp builder. I currently know very little, save what Mark has shown
on his youtube channel. I was a mechanical engineer in my past life and I am currently on hiatus from school as I
went back to get a degree in EE. My wife and I also own an electronics repair and semiconductor characterisation
company, and for the last 5 years, I have mostly worked on refurbishing scopes and resaling them to universities.
I also repair a lot of vintage hifi SS gear. This was to pay for school but I have become entangled in the tube amp net!

We also design custom precision linear power supplies for a few clients here in Texas (Houston) and I am a bit of
"Volt-Nut". I recently aquired a TV-7B/U and I am using Mark tutorial on calibrating and restoration to get it up
to speed. I'm almost done but I'm a bit OCD so I keep replace the old carbon resistors with NOS Dale RS (I have tons)
series in hopes to improve the tolerance since those have a TC 25ppm/deg.C... and I'm testing all of them with
4 wire testing on my HP 3457A. I know it's overkill but I want my first "Real" tube tester to be a really nice unit.

Anyways, I have no shortage of words so let me zip it. I look forward to learning from everyone here and contributing
where I can :mrgreen: .

Hello - I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Denny L. I'm recently retired from a long and varied career in the IT industry, ranging from programmer/designer, to pre-sales systems engineer, database administrator, engineering director, program manager, marketing, and technical sales training. I'm not an electronics designer, but I do understand Ohm's law. As a teen I built several Heathkits, Eico kits and Knight kits as well as a few reflex boom boxes. I'm planning on re-indulging this hobby in my retirement.

My interests are both tube and solid state, plus speaker building. Starting out slowly, I've revived a dead Hafler DH-101 preamp and have acquired most, but not all, of Mark's recommended bench tools. I have several refurbish projects lined up, and I know I'll be coming to this forum for advice.

Thanks... Denny

PS: I apologize in advance for the stupid questions I'll invariably be asking..!

Hi everyone,

I'm Dave. I grew up in the UK but I now live in Chapel Hill, NC. I originally intended to have a career in Electronics (I have a Master's in electronic engineering) but have spent most of my life in business consulting and teaching (I am on the faculty at the Business School at UNC).

I am retiring on Dec 31st and plan to "return" to my original interests. I already have plans for my first 4 retirement projects:
1) Build a robust bench;
2) Build an isolation/current limited/variable voltage source for my bench ;
3) I need to recap my NAD 3020 (bought with some scholarship money in 1977 when I was an undergrad !!);
4) I have most of the parts ordered for the KT88 amplifier.

Blueglow is partially "responsible" for rekindling my interest in electronics...I genuinely believe that some of Mark's videos on Youtube are epitomes of "How to do it!"

I am sure that I will be asking for help and thank you in advance.

Dave

Hi everyone! My name is Larry and I live in northeast Ohio on the shore of Lake Erie. I am 65 and have been an electronics hobbyist since 2nd grade. I was an electrician for last 40 years. I have a couple of years of college in electrical engineering, never completed the degree, general class Amateur Radio and have taken many other continuing education electronics classes over the year. Of course, that doesn't mean I really know much! :lol:

I'm retired now and have been following Mark on YouTube (for the past several years). I finally decided to build the KT88 amp and ordered the Edcor parts yesterday.

Mark, I love your videos and your superb teaching and organizational skills! Thank you for sharing with us!

Hi my name is Steve. I am a recently retired mechanical engineer. I have found an interest in restoring vintage 70's receivers and amplifiers as a hobby. I am looking forward learning more and asking a few questions. I have a Tektronix 2445, HP 8657A signal generator, counter and a few other items on my bench. I enjoy the Blueglow site and the You Tube videos. It has been a great help!
Thanks
